For the past few days, a series of powerful storms have pounded the Colorado Rocky Mountains delivering 13 inches at Vail, 11 inches at Breckenridge and 8 inches at Beaver Creek for the 48-hour mid-mountain snow totals with almost two feet falling at Keystone's North Peak Mountain over the past week. The Lake Tahoe region also got a big snowfall with a dusting at both Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe, inspiring the crews at Heavenly to get their snowguns started up. And, Mother Nature isn't done yet. According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. MDT on October 26 for the Central Mountains of Colorado. So much has fallen that Colorado Department of Transportation is closing a stretch of Interstate 70 tonight near Keystone and Breckenridge to clear the roads.
