Dumpage. Nukage. Insanity. Hide your kids. Hide the dog. I don't know how else to describe what happened in Tahoe over the last few days.
I was hoping for 2-4 FEET, and instead the atmosphere threw down 5-7+ FEET in just the last few days. While the snow during the middle of the week came in as expected, the 2-3 FEET that fell on Thursday and Thursday night was a beautiful bonus compared to what the computer weather models were forecasting from just a few days ago.
The snow will keep going for Tahoe Friday into Saturday before finally shutting off for Sunday and the early part of next week. It's probably a no-brainer that if you're around Tahoe, you should be riding this weekend. No excuses, especially after the prolonged dry spell over the last 4-6 weeks!
The Colorado resorts also saw snow this week with around a foot falling in a heavier band of snow over Vail and Beaver Creek on Thursday. After a lull in the snow on Friday and early Saturday, heavier snow should return late Saturday night through midday on Sunday. For President's weekend riders in Colorado, the mantra should be "Sunday Funday" as close to a foot of new snow could accumulate by late in the weekend.
Enjoy your time on the hill!
