How to pull off a mountain proposal

As someone who is slightly obsessed with all things weddings, I think proposing on the top of a mountain is about as romantic as it gets. Few other engagement locations offer the same in terms of views, uniqueness and surprise.

Just last week Heavenly guests Ashley and Keith got engaged at the top of Heavenly Mountain on Ridge Run. This spot was extra-special to the couple as Ashley taught Keith to ski at Heavenly when they first started dating.  Kudos to Keith for bringing it back to where it started and no doubt melting Ashley's heart.

Are you thinking about popping the question to your lucky lady on the slopes? Here are some tips for making sure she says "Yes!"

 Watch the weather
While not absolutely necessary, asking her the big question on a bluebird day will make the moment that much more spectacular.

 Plot your spot
I'd suggest looking at a trail map ahead of time and pin point 1-2 spots that you know have great views without a lot of crowds. You want the special moment to have a gorgeous backdrop without a lot of gawkers.

Enlist some help /> The crew at Heavenly and all of the resorts owned by Vail are romantics at heart - we'd love to help make your day even more special. Call guest services before you arrive to see how we can help you ask the biggest question of your life.

Have the ring accessible
You don't want to be fumbling around with unzipping layers of clothes to unearth the diamond. Instead, keep the ring in an outside pocket for quick access.

Make the day special
After you've asked and she says yes, you might be thinking "ok, now what do we do?" plan something special on the mountain to do the rest of the day like a nice lunch at Heavenly's Gunbarrel Grill or even a snow picnic overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Follow these tips and you're sure to create a memorable moment for your lucky lady. Leave your tips for making a proposal special, whether it's on a mountain or not below.
