As we progress into our season, we are going to encounter unpredictable snow condition and cold weather.  Born into snowboard boots I have had to deal with the various conditions for so many years, I have picked up a few tricks. Luckily for you as a reader, you can learn a lot from this article.

Before heading to any of the Vail Resort Mountains look up the snow report. The snow report will have lots of useful information such as temperature, snow accumulation  , weather condition.

After checking the weather report you have enough information to predict what your day will consist of.  If the weather is really warm or really cold, having the right wax will make your day more enjoyable. You can pick up wax at a local snowboard shop or have a shop wax your board. While you are waxing your board check your equipment and adjust/tighten/ or fix as necessary.

Make sure you are prepared for the weather at hand.  If the conditions are cold, wear a cold weather jacket, warm gloves and if needed, hand and toe warmers. If the conditions are warm, wear sunscreen and drink lots of water.

Here is a local secret, really cold days people will get cold and stay in. if you are dressed warm you will spend a lot more time on the hill. With harsh conditions there will be no lift lines and a lot more snow or groomers to ride.
