Zephyr Lodge opening at Northstar

This week sees the opening of the brand new Zephyr Lodge at Northstar California. The Zephyr Lodge is situated in the middle of the mountain at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express lift and is apart of the 30 million investment made in Northstar this season. The lodge will ease up pressure on services on the rest of the mountain providing the perfect lunch spot for those wishing to play on the backside of the mountain all day.

Party time
The Zephyr Lodge opens its doors on the Dec. 19 for an Epic Mixer party in preparation for the grand opening on the morning of Dec. 20. If you haven't yet attended an Epic Mixer they are awesome, with opportunities to win prizes, drink some on mountain cocktails and add more photographs to your EpicMix photo gallery. As for the Zephyr Lodge itself? What a building that is.

What is on offer for lunch?
First off, I love food. I love good, yummy food and especially hot food on a ski day. There is quite the variety of cuisine coming to the Zephyr lodge, enough to satisfy any appetite. The new lodge will house a Napa salad bar, gourmet pizza and specialty soups and sandwiches. I have already tasted the grill cheese sandwich with tomato bisque and it was the perfect warming combination for a day on the mountain. With 500 indoor seats and 200 outdoor deck seats, you won't find yourself struggling to accommodate a table for lunch.

What a view
The deck is really quite a special place to sit and admire the alpine scenery. With a beautiful views over the Pacific Crest, the Zephyr Lodge offers a great place to relax, breathe in the crisp air and watch fellow skiers. If you are anything like me, people watching is a favorite pastime and there is no better place than the deck at Zephyr do it.

Construction
The Zephyr Lodge is very similar to its sister lodge down at Heavenly ski resort. It has a rustic look and feel, made from as much recycled material as possible. The workmen have been hard at it, building the lodge in only 5 months, just in time for us to enjoy it over the holidays. Hope to see you at the Epic Mixer on Monday and the grand opening on Tuesday to share a cup of hot cocoa or two. Zephyr Lodge... another reason Northstar, California is 'The way it should be.'
